AUSTRALIAN VALUES PARTY CALLS FOR $10M IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR AUSTRALIAN-FIRST VETERAN GAMES INITIATIVE ON THE GOLD COAST TO COMBAT MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
Last week Heston Russell (Senate Candidate for QLD) and Andy Cullen (Candidate for McPherson) fellow Veteran and someone who has also been incredibly active in the Veteran Community with his charity Reboot Trauma Recovery. - Met with the Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate to discuss the use of the Commonwealth Games facilities to host the very first Veterans Games in 2023.
Heston campaigned for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide with the key focus of improving the mental health and engagement of our Veteran community - identifying the need for initiatives that better support community connection and cohesion, through purposeful collaboration.
This project has been in development since it was first decided that we would withdraw our troops from Afghanistan in 2021. The Veteran Games will provide the opportunity for Veterans from all over Australia, regardless of their service or deployment history, to join together and put their skills to the test.
The Australian Values Party AVP has 8 Veteran candidates with nearly 120 years of combined service and the lived experience this brings. We know what needs to be done and have the team that can do it.
Which is why we also made the announcement to take over the defence personnel and veterans affairs portfolio if we were to get elected.

A Vote for AVP is Voice for Veterans.
We have already been campaigning for Veterans way before this election, we have continued to secure initiatives for Veterans before the election has been decided and we will continue to fight for our Veteran Community when the ballot boxes are closed.
