Housing Affordability & Cost of Living

Housing affordability is recognised as being central to providing security to those seeking to improve the quality of their lives.

The AVP recognises that housing affordability and the cost of living is an important factor linked not only with making life enjoyable, but also in relation to sustaining the economy.

While the AVP is committed to strategies enabling people to afford their own homes, the AVP also recognises that there is a need to better support equality in financial advice to all Australians so that they may participate in making housing more affordable in their personal circumstances.

The AVP will conduct a critical review into key materials required for housing development cost reduction from production capabilities within Australia. We must identify Federal options for trade and taxation subsidies for the production of these critical materials to better support affordable Australian housing developments.

The AVP will also conduct a review of current State & Territory housing development targets in order to identify opportunities to bridge the current annual deficit (reportedly close to 20,000p.a.) including a Federal review of current Greenfield & Brownfield development processes across Australia.

Cost of Living

Given our small population, everyday Australians are not going to be able to compete with the economies of scale that other international consumers are able to afford for our products and resources. Constantly increasing minimum wages in order to try and bridge this gap will only continue to disproportionately impact businesses and employers across our country, with smaller businesses being those to suffer.

The Australian Values Party will commit to expanding our critical review to all goods and resources consumed within Australia in order to map out our current needs and future forecasts to support our own domestic maintenance and development opportunities.

The Federal Government must take action to ensure that a condition of all access to any free or subsidised exportation of Australian products or resources includes conditions to reserve sufficient quantities to supply the Australian market first, at reduced / cost prices, in order to guarantee our self sustainability and lower the cost of living across all areas of consumables and development.

Policies serving Australians

The purpose of the Australian Values Party is to promote a government with a sense of responsibility and accountability to the Australian people, to protect the Australian values and promote the welfare of our Australian people.
