Equality of Opportunity
The third Australian Value is: Equality of opportunity for all people - regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, race, or national or ethnic origin. Per this value, the Australian Values Party is focused to ensure that all communities within our Australian society are supported to achieve this equality and to do so responsibly, ensuring that this does not focus to negatively impact on others.
Just like our current political system, our society is too often left to seesaw between social issues and community groups in reaction to critical incidents or perceptions. The Australian Values Party is dedicated to being the balanced and compassionate party that will approach all issues and conversations focused on supporting those in need, not just those who have the most to gain.
Please take the time to read our Community Development policy (ACDOP) and our Education policy where you will see that the Australian Values Party is determined to better support our education system and families to separate the academic requirements of schooling from the life skills and social education requirements of the family and wider community. This includes better support to our teachers and parents with federal funding direct to Local Government in order to provide proactive and reactive initiatives to achieve this.
Per our Community Development policy (ACDOP) - the AVP commits to more focused Federal funding direct to Local Government initiatives to better support the physical and mental health needs of all our communities and especially those that continue to present higher rates of suicide and mental health issues. These communities include LGBTIQA+, Veterans, First Responders, Small Business Owners, Farmers and First Nations communities.
Currently there is mismanagement of federal funding including the delay in this reaching local government and community providers towards key issues including Mental Health, Suicide, Substance Abuse and Sexually Transmitted Diseases within our LGBTIQA+ communities. Too much funding and focus has been directed to campaigns conducted by lobby groups and activists, to the detriment of those in need of such critical support.
These key issues have been further impacted by the COVID responses including lockdowns, isolation mandates and the increases strain on our mental health support systems. Equality of opportunity for all Australians means bridging the gaps wherever they are found, and within the LGBTIQA+ community, these rates are consistently above the national community averages and climbing.
All political parties will likely dedicate more funding to support these areas. However the AVP is the Party that has the people and purpose to make sure that these dollars actually reach the programs and people in need.
Cutting through the layers of bureaucracy, and working independently with all areas of government, will be the achievable reality of a hung parliament with the Australian Values Party in the balance.
Policies serving Australians
The purpose of the Australian Values Party is to promote a government with a sense of responsibility and accountability to the Australian people, to protect the Australian values and promote the welfare of our Australian people.
